SDCC ACTIVITIES

PAST ACTIVITIES in MARCH:

March’s Club activity was FANTASTIC!

We started off with a quick cup of coffee and a meet up at the Lucky Bolt Café in Sorrento Valley. We then ‘Caravanned’ over to the Spielman Auto Collection: ”Only Yesterday Classic Autos & Hall of Heros”.

We were really caught off guard and quite disappointed at how small and how few cars were on display….but…we were ‘baited’… once we went through a Vietnam era Staff Tent we were in the “real” museum!

Bob, our Host was an excellent docent, and we enjoyed all of the information that he shared with us over the 2 ½ hour tour!

The museum houses dozens of BEAUTIFUL antique, classic & ex-race cars (literally millions of dollars worth)! Then we entered the ‘Hall of Heros’ which, in itself was worth the trip! There were vehicles, stories, film clips and a huge collection of various memorabilia starting with WWI and progressing through WWII, Korea, Vietnam, 911 and the subsequent Iraq & Afghan confrontations, all excellently documented and displayed! VERY well done.

Afterwards a few of us enjoyed a St. Patty’s Day Guinness at the Torrey Pines Glider Port overlooking the Ocean on a sweet summerlike afternoon!
